As Frank Shorter (US best medallist for marathon) he would cross train with cycling swim and even duathlons back in his days understanding its merits. Even today in hindsight he will still say it was one good thing to practice keeping him at the top of his career.

Ps Joe, it's nice to have you back posting again, way too long between posts. Obviously I'm being selfish and wishing you know how much I enjoy waiting for the next installment.

Thank you for this. Much is written for the competitive athlete and those training for events, but little for those of us who run high mileage weeks just because.
