Unfortunately not all medical doctors understand the demands that intense training can make on a body. And if you don't have access to one that does you may or may not be getting advice that is appropriate. Soliciting some additional information from people in your sport who may have had the same condition is a good way to verify and get a second opinion to backup what your doctor is saying.

I like this post... and I agree with Stuart. Even in the absence of having "been there, done that," I hear a lot of people rejoice in having a medical provider who enjoys a sport the same way they do. It's a person with medical knowledge who understands the stresses of specific activities AND, even if the sport of choice is different, they understand the passion and the desire to continue through illness or injury. It's always reassuring as an athlete when you are treated by an athlete.

online medical advice

My opinion is that if someone is looking for medical advice on the Internet, better to do on a specialized website, where there are real doctors, not on the forums. moreover, the internet can only give Medical advice, not diagnosis.
